Speaking of Springfield represents the intersection of our love for the city, our values, our quality standards and our belief in the power of good. Each and every day we open ourselves up to the possibility that we can move the needle—just a little bit—in our ongoing effort to undo the negative perceptions people have about Springfield. It is a city that for most of its 375 years was thriving, entrepreneurial, welcoming, and vibrant. We believe the city simply needs to rediscover these qualities that reside in the 17 neighborhoods that make up Springfield.

We launched this online magazine because we believed it was important to begin to change the conversation about our city. We started with a literal campaign to do so. We brought a podium and a bullhorn out onto Court Square and we simply asked people to, “Say some thing nice.” We invite you to watch the resulting video.
Now, with the publication of our first issue of Speaking of Springfield, we realize we have so much ground to cover. There are so many people doing wonderful things worthy of recognition. How will we get to them all? How will we manage to tell about the many thriving small businesses, incredibly talented artists, and the wonderful diversity that makes Springfield a 21st century city? Let’s celebrate Springfield.
Wherever you live, make Springfield a city you care about.
We are ready to provide a steady diet of good news about Springfield—good news stories that are just waiting to be told.
